What is the highest score in judo and when is it awarded? The highest score in judo is called “ippon.” It is awarded when an athlete achieves a throw that meets all four criteria: speed, force, landing their opponent on their back, and maintaining complete control until the landing is finished. Ippon can also be awarded in ne-waza (ground techniques) if an athlete holds an opponent for a defined period without escape, forces an opponent to submit with a choke or joint lock, or if the opponent loses consciousness. Thanks So@r! You’re welcome! If you have any questions about the Judo rules or need assistance with anything else, feel free to ask. Artificial Intelligence
